Shades of Jade personifies the dazzling versatility
of pianist Jade Simmons. She is an artist
with mass appeal. Young and old, traditional or modern, the artistry
of Jade strikes a chord with every audience. Poised to make a splash
in a variety of arenas, Jade Simmons is a Renaissance woman for the
millennium.
Experience Jade in…
Solo- Jade’s affinity is for the rhythmic and percussive music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Equally at home in the more traditional classical repertoire, her recital programs are uniquely diverse and emotionally charged.
Trio- Jade joins percussionist David Skidmore and Saxophonist Jonathan Sanford to make up the dynamic trio known as Collide. The group is an avante garde Classical/Contemporary music ensemble that performs original works and the music of young, multi-cultural composers.
Percussion-- A drummer at heart (and in real life), Jade and a drummer friend named Josh Berner founded Northwestern University’s premiere percussion and dance ensemble called Boomshaka! She composed, choreographed as well as co-directed the group. To this day Boom is going strong. No longer a Boomshakaholic, Jade performs frequently, as pianist, with percussion ensembles and percussion soloists.
Speaking-An avid believer in the art form of verbal communication, Jade Simmons has spoken all over the country. Her presentations are fast-paced and humorous and her passion is for youth in general and for young artists. For school aged audiences she has created the Where Do You Stand?! Speaking Series and for young artists she has crafted the Emerge Already Career Seminar.
Producing- Founder and artistic director of the Impulse Artist Series, Jade has produced the hottest new concert series on the Houston arts scene. Impulse is designed to provide performance opportunities for deserving young pianists who are coming to the end of their academic careers and are preparing to embark on their professional journeys.
